Voicing Your Personal Statement

During this week-long seminar created by Writers in the Schools, you will work in small groups and receive one-on-one coaching from a professional writer to craft a personal statement that can be used for college admissions and scholarship applications.  Your writing coach will help you cultivate your voice through generative writing prompts, guide you through examinations of sample statements for what makes them effective, and work with you in one-on-one coaching sessions to complete your draft.  A major focus of the week will be engaging in revision strategies and participating in peer review session. Participants will be required to bring a lap top.
